My 2019's resolution was to avoid toxic people in my life. I have successfully done that; but here is the truth - you can't always avoid them. There are so many levels of "toxic" people around, and you run into them at all walks of life- work, family, co-worker, social gatherings and avoiding isn't really helping. So my question- How do I "deal" with such people and not lose my mind? P.S I am probably one of the few on blind who posts less TC/LC questions; it's always people related queries (the piece of code I haven't figured how to debug, since one fix don't help!)
First step is to get off Blind.
Define toxic
Negative people. People after whom you have interacted with leave you feeling sad, angry and you tell yourself -"avoid this person". Put them on a "Do not call or text" list (I don't have one yet)
I think you need to first learn to be less affected by negative people. I guess for me, sympathizing and realizing everyone has their own issues kind of works. It's human to have problems to deal with, often times really serious problems. Decide what value you get out of interacting with them and set a threshold for avoidance. Easy.
Stop caring about those people. š¤·āāļø Also, stop caring about what they think about you in situations like work, social gatherings etc. Finally, accept the fact that not everything can be solved or fixed.
