My husband hesitates to spend $15 on HBO to watch Game of Thrones. Our TC is 750K.

Given 750K combined TC, you should just subscribe to it yourself. I think your husband just doesn't want to watch game of thrones 😂 If he does want to watch it, then I think maybe it's taking "good with finances" a little too far. There's a point where time is more important than money.
Very reasonable. It’s easy to think of money the same way you did in college even when you make so much more now. Not the worst thing as long as he’s not actively preventing you from just buying it yourself

If he has figured out a way for you to watch it in HD without breaking the law while also saving the $15, he's a keeper. Else, he's not someone who understands that money simply is means to achieving a certain quality of life.
