What's the likelihood of finding a Jr. Dev role in ATL? My background is mostly self-taught for 2+ years and I received a Grow with Google scholarship for Udacity's Android Nanodegree (online course). I'm currently in the middle of an internship at Pandora that will have given me 6 months of on the job experience by December. Will this kind of background be enough find Jr. Dev roles in Atlanta?
Historicaly, most interns at Pandora get offers. And, mobile developers are in huge contention at the company. Regardless of the current situation (haven't heard anything had changed, but I'm on a different team), this is absolutely something you can talk openly with your manager. Your future at the company is something you deserve to know. Worst case is you get the bad news now. Best case is your manager will fight for you to get hired. Best luck.
Since you're just starting your internship, something like "Based on my time at Pandora so far, I think I'd really enjoy working here (if this is true, obviously). What can I do to ensure I can keep working here?"
The market for juniors is pretty saturated because of boot camp grads but having 6 months of experience is insanely valuable and should open up many doors.
Pretty likely if you get an offer to concert to full time after the internship
There's been talk about not having the 'headcount' to hire new Jr. Devs after the re-org
Dam really, even in six months?
