I had a phone screen with Microsoft for a hiring event for Senior SWEs (i.e. 63, 64). The feedback came to recommend me for an onsite, but for level 62. I'm not interested in level 62, so is there a cool period to reapply? Can I still apply outright to other teams? I have a Masters degree + 7 YOE.

It was earlier this month, for a senior role (63/64) I had a phone screen solved the problem, needed some hint to get the optimal solution which I managed to do as well. Then got the feedback about 62 roles instead.. I played along and had to do additional time based technical assessment

It sounds like a Googler HR is attempting to steal talents from MS.. how can a 2 yoe have 62? Post doc maybe?
