Paid Maternity Leave

Even India has 26 weeks of paid maternity leave let alone other first world countries. Will US ever catch up? How is 6 weeks supposed to be adequate for a working women giving birth to a baby? Is leaving one’s job the only option? The only other country besides the U.S. that doesn't offer cash benefits to women during maternity leave is Papua New Guinea, according to a 2014 International Labor Organization analysis of 185 countries and territories.

Who only offers 6 weeks? Most companies here offer between 24 and 56 weeks.
