America faces an uneven baby bust Updated 3 hours ago Some 3.85 million babies were born in the U.S. in 2017, the lowest rate since 1987. And we’re not having enough new children to sustain our population, the Wall Street Journal reports. Such birth declines may put a strain on future hiring efforts. The trend, however, is not spread evenly across the country, according to the CDC. The Midwest and Southeast have higher fertility rates than the Northeast and West Coast. Just two states — South Dakota and Utah — are having enough babies to sustain the population.
No babies and cracking down on immigration == the country is screwed. You've got to have one or the other if you want growth. Ideally both.
Lack of babies takes 20 years to be noticeable in the labor market, so there is plenty of time to fix immigration before that becomes a problem. Of course, fixing it sooner is important.
To fix it we need to dramatically increase immigration.
I don't like kids, but I'm willing to help out by helping ladies become single moms ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Virgin?
Highly Educated people tend to have smaller families than those with less-education...
Why must we have growth? Why can't we have a shrinking population so that there are more resources for future generations?
If we don't have enough automation, we won't be able to utilize those resources at all. For progress to happen, the more diverse and larger able population we have, the better it is statistically.
We don't need to utilize all the resources, and automation is going up day by day.
It'll take 20 years for this to be noticeable. The same time many (Indian) people will start to have final processing of their eb-2 😂
Post this in women in tech they will be furious. It’s true higher educated people have less kids which tips the scales toured poverty. If your in blind your probably need a few more kids.
Why would they be furious?
I guess you say seems like a good thing but then state facts that actually aren’t that good at least from certain perspectives and if you see it that way the option is have more children which women in tech seem to be against because (feelings) many are selfish and want a career like that’s the only way to have meaning in life.
Huh how is not having kids selfish?
Seriously if you don’t know. You just don’t get it.
* throws condoms away * Where my ladies at?
🤣
Throw condoms away if you are ready with big check books and lots of $$.
