Speculation: Bezos wanted second HQ outside of community property states
Jeff Bezos wanted to setup second HQ in New York and then move there for a year before divorcing his wife. Tabloid broke the plan by revealing his affair. Now, he does not have a good reason to move to New York. So, HQ 2 is being reconsidered.

That’s dumb. Just because he is a resident of that state, doesn’t make her one. Then they’d have to deal with divorce laws of both states....and New York is a bear. There is no fast divorce there—waiting period upwards of 12-18 months.... and in a long term marriage. It doesn’t matter where you live

Hehe he could move there alone.. why move thousands of ppl for that dumb reason?
He would be working there and if that could have saved 70 billion dollars, it would have been worth it.
I don't think having 70b or 140b makes any difference. He is super rich anyway. He could spend 1m every day for the rest of his life even after the cut
