A week ago, I had asked a question on Blind - where are people finding VP and Director finance roles. You can find that by searching for “VP and Director Finance Roles — where to find them. Pt 1”. Vast majority of responses said “executive recruiter” for their senior finance roles. So this week a new poll to identify the specific recruiters that have worked for people.
GQR in NC and NY Spencer Stuart: mostly for MD and above roles Korn Ferry: similar to Spencer Stuart but also does some ED or director roles Chase international partners : all roles Michael Page: heavy on IT and audit roles, less core banking and capital markets
Thx bud. Whatchu still doing at the firms? Get some WLB in industry. For some reason I get the feeling that you are in FSO. 🧐
Go to Boyden
Skip recruiters, go on Linkedin and make content around your field and then target key people at the companies you want to work for.
I hear ya. Been thinking about that quite a bit for the last few days.. I just don’t want to be one of those people who make content for the sake of, or spurt truisms or quotes of the day, or link to some study done by someone else and then add one line saying “great study about blah blah blah” and leave it there. That just irks me. Basically no value add. One of the many reasons why I am not on Facebook either (another story for another time) Gotta think of some quality content.. On the other hand, if I can’t beat em.. join em 😂
Correct! Making content for the sake of it is counterintuitive. I was thinking about sharing your thoughts and being more yourself. Finance jobs are usually more “fake” or tend to be a bit more on the safe side. At the end of the day, you want to be happy at your job, and if they don’t like you, the end result is always negative for both. But if you come off more honest and off the cuff you can get more leverage in finding the role you want. Good luck!
