I recently had an interview (internal transfer, PM position) and I felt my interviewers (who were all women) were very unwelcoming and were picking on tedious things. It caught me off guard because prior to the interview, I was not thinking about this AT ALL. After my interview ended, I felt like I didnt want the job anymore. I answered all questions well and my coding skills are pretty solid. Feel like the interview overall did not have enough content. Im just frustrated because i feel similar feelings overall in other occasions as well sadly
Chinese female is always the toughest in my experience. Nothing racist or sexist, I’m a Chinese female myself, but they always sound cold and serious and give me a hard time.
Yep, it is pretty common and it sucks
I don't understand sorry. Are you expecting people to cut u some slack just because you are a woman? I also feel cold vibes from most women interviewers but I sometimes get the same chill from men interviewers too. So I guess it is not because of the gender and it's just a bad day?? Stereotyping is not good and women don't need it especially since they are already under represented at tech. I apologize if I offended you.
Nope you didnt offend me. I am not saying I expect people to cut u slack. That is not my point. I am saying sadly women interviewers ive encountered were very hard to talk to to begin with. Men interviewers ive encountered were asked more sharp questions tbh. This is not my first interview.
Summary: sense the moment and show the interviewer that you are like her.
Detailed: Yes I have gotten rejected from other women hiring managers for basic PM interviews in the past. The women interviewers have also given me feedback that “I am not collaborative and lack conflict resolution skills”. It seems to me that you must be a tough negotiator and badass to climb the corporate ladder (becoming one of the guys), but must be very polite and nice with women interviewers in order to get in. In my most recent interview, I decided to be the sweetest girl possible and dumb myself down with the woman interviewer, and I got in. Something to consider.
So gross.
Once you get in, hopefully tell the junior girls not to request but to ask etc etc. The stuff in books like “nice girls don’t get the corner office”.
Yes happened to me. Not just interviews but at work as well
Woman managers.... why wouldn’t they go for cool looking male coders?
Maybe they know they’re bs and are quota hires, so they have to compensate.
What is your point ? Last few line make no sense, but my English is very bad so I can't blame you
It is a rant
But dots are not connected
