[SWE] Got offer from College Board, but still in process for Amazon. How to make College Board wait? 2 YOE
Amazon is my first choice. yes I know, Amazon is hard. But I need the monies (I seriously do). And would look good on resume. I won't stay long if I don't like it. The college board offer is decent. The tech side of the company isn't big. Culture might not even be much better than Amazon. But it seems good enough. I am afraid if I make College Board wait too long, they'll withdraw the offer. What can I do to make College Board wait for the process with Amazon? I only did the assessment with Amazon so far, still have phone interview then virtual onsite. Should I just take college board and forget about Amazon? college board: around 130k base salary, might go to 140k or 150k. Amazon: SDE II so expecting upwards of 200k, but idk. Location: DC metro / north Virginia My thoughts so far: I wont respond to them today. I'll respond tomorrow, negotiate the offer (to buy myself time), then if negotiation is exhausted, ask for more time. Maybe I'll ask Amazon to expedite, but recruiter doesn't respond that much.
Sde 2 can go up to 250k. I would definitely wait for amazon
accept the offer then renege if you get amazon
That would burn bridges wouldn't it? I wouldn't be able to work for college board ever again? Or would they forget about it eventually or stop caring?
Why would you work for such a company after your first job... better join Albertsons
College board is crap. My friend works there. I would take Amazon for learning. Unless you want to coast, go for Amazon.
Can you tell me more about what your friend says about college board? I would certainly take Amazon if available, but I'm afraid of losing the college board offer and Amazon not offering anything.
It’s like very old school kind of culture. Just getting started with cloud, resisting change, lot of politics and BS reorgs, little growth.

tell your Amazon recruiter that you have an expiring offer and you need to make a decision when I did that, my recruiter gave me my offer the same day I interviewed
