'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
I interviewed with two “different” teams at Apple and both teams want to give an offer now, one is San Diego based and the other is in Austin. Both are related to embedded SW but I like the position in Austin more as it aligns with my career growth. The San Diego position is also Embedded related but not driver/kernel level programming. I’m already based in San Diego now sure which one to pick. What are some of the downsides of picking the Austin position? Im single but would prefer to stay in California but this Austin position is the work I would enjoy doing but not so sure if I’ll like Austin as a location. Just to clarify, Austin position is more kernel dev and SD is more control software related. #apple #qualcomm
I would optimize on picking based on where you would rather live. Austin is a big hub for the EEs and particularly MacBook so if your passions are kernel dev it is most likely a no brainer to pick that. SD is more of a focus on software / modems / accessories iirc. I've never been there but Austin has a lot of transplants and people in their 20s/30s so you probably wouldn't dislike it. One downside is if you wanna relocate it might be tricky since there might not be any sd folks in ur Austin org.
I see what you mean, I don’t mind being in the Bay Area either but I’m just not sure if I would like Austin outside of work. I’ve been hearing mixed information from people but I do like California and would like to stay here. Maybe I can work in the SD team for abit and if I don’t enjoy it I can move internally?
Sigh. Aus is lame compared to SD. SFO here in Austin 3 years. Looking to move out. This city is one of the most overrated cities in the US Nothing here. No mountains, no beaches no good ethnic food. The weather sucks literally year round. Lots of land but all private. So the great outdoors here is look don't touch
Definitely South Dakota over Austin
If I ever had to choose between Texas(yes no matter how cool, Austin is still in the middle of nowhere) and San Diego, I would always choose SD, there is so much more to life than job and work really.
Austin is garbage. Houston and Dallas has more to offer. Heck even san Antonio is better
I have some questions. Can I dm you?
Sure
Hi. What did you end up choosing?
As a single person I would classify this as a two door decision. Meaning if you choose Austin you could always adjust and move back to SD.if location is your only concern with Austin I think you can take the risk.
If I were to choose the SD one, I can move internally still after a year or later
Very true. So they are both two door decisions, so go with the one you think you will enjoy most or the one your gut says you should take.
