Our household income is 400k plus in Dallas but Still not feeling like we are doing well here. We are still not able to afford buying a new $1M+ house here in good areas of Dallas. We don't have luxury cars, sub 25k cars. Not sure how to feel compete with other Indians buying range rovers, frequent vacation trips, 1M+ houses. Dallas is literally telugu land (state in India) where these people prefer to do only contract jobs and work at multiple clients thru an employer (puzzling since it is not long term career thinking) . We feel behind when compared to their living. What are the overemployed couples pulling here in Dallas? How much are you exploiting here thru consultancies? #misc #teluguconsultancies #indianconsultancies
We are in Dallas too with different perspective, something like yours, not from south
Join the club. What's your perspective and tc?
Also in Plano/Richardson area .. miss the low price in 2014/15 time .. but TC not like 400 k that time
Time to open telugu barbecue joint #telugubbq
How are you not able to afford a luxury car or multiple vacations on a $400K income? That’s on you. As for the house, Dallas has plenty of beautiful homes in decent suburbs in the 500-800K range. If your self-worth is tied up in owning a home valued at $1MM+, you should be able to save the down payment in a year if you really wanted and you’d qualify for the mortgage but would have to eat the interest. Failing to see the problem here?
Very well said. And I'll add: why life has to be about competition and showing off?
‘Dallas is literally telugu land’ - No. This is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve heard. That just shows you how small your circle is. Go meet other people. Have a broader perspective. You and your partner are just comfortable hanging out with the other indians exclusively and assumably only with the similar social status yet measuring yourselves to them constantly just to find ways to feel unhappy. Very unhealthy and unfilling way of living. Why do you need 1M house, luxury cars, expensive vacations??? If these are priorities in your life, why can’t you do it? 400k should do more than enough to cover it. Clearly you have other priorities. Make peace with decisions yall made. Own the choices yall chose. Make your life yours. They ain’t gonna live it for you
Yo. Go to the Lexington neighborhood in Frisco. Almost all of them are from Guntur and specifically from the kamma caste. Like literally people are buy homes there just to be with their caste folks. If you are not with your kamma friends you wouldn’t be able to see this but caste and andhra folks like milk and water.
As a non-indian, I do not follow everything you said, probably for the better but since when a small part of Frisco = Dallas? You have no idea how big dfw is and how many people live in it. Every race complains about their own race overcrowding the neighborhood. Why does it matter which race/nationality they are? So much so that you have to cry about it. Just mind your own business and be kind to others. Noone is out to get you or judge you on meaningless bullshits you can buy. Wtf is wrong with yall
Get a life bro.
We live in the DFW area, think Frisco/Plano/McKinney area. We make $280K. We are renting because we don’t want to pay for the high interest rate. We also have decent cars (Nissan, Mercedes 10 years old: all paid for). We can afford a home but we choose to continue to safe aggressively for the next 1 year while paying off the $21K consumer debt we have. OP, maybe listen to Dave Ramsey. It sounds like without too much detail from you that you either have too much debt, or are saving over 50% of your take home pay. There are very good homes in the $500-$800K range in amazing school districts in Dallas area. I’ll caution against comparing yourself to others. With your income, you should be able to get a great home if that’s what you want so long as you’re not buried in consumer debt.
Can you recommend good areas?
Prosper, McKinney, Mansfield, Keller, Wylie, Grapevine, etc.
Delulu?
Lol yeah
