Contemplating purchasing a Rav4 Prime

Buying my first car in US as a single person. Thinking of straying off the beater path and buying a new Rav4 hybrid, mainly to start to go on some camping, or atleast motivate myself to do so. I am now eyeing up the Rav4 prime w/ PP, since it's an EV and I see that it has a chunk of premium features that I like, especially the reduced road noise. Recently I got a feel for the reduced road/wind noise from sitting in a friend's car and driving a rented X3, and I feel like that really reduces the annoyance I feel in driving, so I am considering paying for it. There's some cons though. Costs 6k more than the Rav4 hybrid over 4 years financing, any savings in gas are just going to be eaten up by insurance, so it does not have the cost benefits of EV. Don't also have EV charging in my apartment, but have it at work for low cost. Besides, some coworkers also exclusively depend on home/public charging, so it is doable in my locality. Feels like I am justifying the prime purchase a bit too much in my mind, and just basing it off on my anecdotal experience. Have one mind saying that after a few months I wouldn't even care about the road noise anymore so could just go for a budget friendly crossover suv. Also since "going camping" is a thing in my mind and not actually doing it, I could just go for a beater corolla/civic and rent to travel if I really want to. Can invest the savings, be more safe when getting laid off. TC:170 #personalfinance

realisticly, if you didn’t camp without a car, you probably won’t camp much even with a car.

Even camping/trips once in a blue moon also works for me for now. Even then, it feels like I would have a better time if I have a car I am actually used to instead of rolling the dice with these rental companies.

🤷‍♂️ you could just get the regular hybrid le or xle and save some money if you wanted to go camping. you cant plugin in the forest anyway. anecdotally, i have a neighbor who bought a prime. ive never seen it plugged in after the first month or so. so he just runs on gas
