ATTENTION Recruiters and Talent Acquisition Professionals

I know most large (FAANG) companies use ATS bots when it comes to filtering applications for interviews. I want to make sure that my resume formatting is up to par and that I’m submitting my information through the most appropriate files to be seen. I typically submit my resume/cover in PDF form, but I’ve been reading that DOCX is the way to go. Is this true? Also, how can I know for sure that my resume is readable by the ATS system? I consider my resume to be pretty easy to read and straightforward, nothing fancy. But then again I’m also not a robot 🙃 HELP PLEASE! #hr #people #recruiting #recruitment #recruiter #talentacquisition #microsoft #adobe #google #amazon #resume #ats #FAANG

There are many ATS resume checkers on the internet - use one - or more and see what it says

It is a falsehood that every major company is using robots to screen resumes. We might get a prioritized recommendation but no good recruiter is basing their hiring off of that scoring. Don't worry about that and instead write a good resume that a human can make sense of. 9/10 times, a human will be the one that rejects you. PDF is 100% the best option 100% of the time, no question.

People really overestimate the technology we have access to in TA/HR. We have the ability to use disqualifying questions (yes/no, or multiple choice), but any good recruiter wants to see all the resumes so they can make the decision about who's the right fit. We do have the ability to run boolean searches against an application file (job posting), but from my experience most recruiters spend very little time on applications. Use a PDF please.
