I am deciding between two roles: a Cloud App Developer for AWS (Consultant) vs Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase. Here is my pros and cons. Pay is not that big of a factor for me. I only plan to stay at either role for a year most likely. AWS (Proserv) Pros - Better Pay (95k base, 140k TC) - Brand Name Recognition Cons - Remote (want to be in person) - fear of difficulty in getting back in engineering since the consulting work sometimes lacks impact JPMC Pros - In Person - I get to pick which team I am on - Engineer versus Consultant Cons - lower pay (95k) - name isn’t as valuable
2 offers, no TC anywhere and not even current TC?
Updated with TC. I didn’t want the poll to be about to compensation difference which is why I left it off
I talked to an engineer that does Cloud App development. I was told you do coding and stuff. I also applied for it and got immediate rejection. Are you sure it’s totally consulting? I fell like there are enough coding you have to do to keep the growth as an engineer.
Both the TC's or GTFO
