Israeli precision-guided munition likely killed group of children playing foosball in Gaza, weapons experts say
Can anyone help me make a decision pls.. i interviewed with ad tech team at Boston. About to get an offer with them. Sr sw engr - applied for mgr tho. Yoe 10 What should I expect? The recruiter already tried to low ball me after interview ended onsite. Said Franklyn (who runs ad tech) doesn't like giving out too high of a base compensation Also if you can share info on team and culture it will be great Current tc : 275k
Seems like an amazing team. Congrats
That sounds bogus to me. AFAIK, bands are Engineering wide. Also, my humble opinion is that while AdTech is often more cutting edge than other parts of Engineering, they're not as awesome as they think they are.
Run!
Why
What offer did they give you? I have an upcoming interview for senior developer position
I have a call tomorrow will post here
Wayfair can’t match OP’s current TC for senior software engineer. At senior software engineer (L3), levels.fyi states Wayfair pays 200-250k TC. At senior software engineering manager (L4), levels.fyi states Wayfair pays 250-300k TC. For max base, look at h1b fillings. Senior software engineer (L3) base is 160k and senior software engineering manager (L4) is 175k. I would only move if Wayfair can get to 400k but Wayfair bands don’t extend that far for either position from public information. It sounds like you’re being down-leveled due to ad tech. I’d ask to get team matched elsewhere.
But wayfair gives higher roles very easily. I'm guessing that op would have received L4 or L5. My boss is from non cs background. He joined wayfair as L2 and got promoted to L3 within a year. So this dude is 25 years old with 1 year software engineering experience and is in L3, managing 8 people.
Was told in onsite interview that you cannot become eng mgr within adtech directly. For some reason thats their policy.. so have to start at sr level then go lead and then mgr.
The comp max is BS, they’re engineering-wide. You can get more comp than that. Some of the tech there is cutting edge but culture and general atmosphere in that group have some improving to do.
Adtech is notorious for down leveling and lowballing.
This. Also as the chart above shows; bands are NOT the same.
So true
There are some interesting projects but so much reinvention of off the shelf tech like working on an internal email system that recently got blacklisted (and then taken off the blacklists again).. is that something you really want to work on?
Lol tc or gtfo you know the rules
You aren't Wayfair so GTFO but updated tc
275k at GE bro... you padding with retention?
