I interviewed with them and got a peek at their thought processā€¦ it was a joke. The way Amazon makes HW is throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.

I'm in one of the hardware orgs and in general it seems like pip culture and toxicity is less here as compared to rest of Amazon.

I worked at Lab126 on the software side for the Kindle devices. The californian people that were inittially there were great to work for, but the amazon people that came from Seatle had a super toxic work culture. As the Kindle became successful, we got more and more Seatle douchebags, and the place started turning into a meat grinder, while the managers were playing game of thrones while simultaneously throwing their reports under the bus. I saw people crying on their desk (women usually). Also, if you are an H1B they will play games with your GC application and delay it at every step to keep you trapped. Avoid anything amazon....

Interesting point about the Californian demographic. I notice that too at Lab126. There is a bunch of these people who grew up in the area and are absolutely passionate about engineering (mostly hardware and mechanical). They usually only care about making the product better. But as some of these people become managers I feel they are pressured into doing things the Amazon way and they become toxic. My manager when I joined was a Lab126 veteran (one of the first few employees). Absolutely amazing manager who didn't embody the amazon culture in anyway. I used to work 20 hours a week for a year and got rated achieves. Unfortunately he was forced to leave this year because L8 wanted to do run the org the Amazon way. Overall I think Lab126 has great potential if you take the amazon culture and toxicity out

Well, how can you take the Amazon shit PIP culture and toxicity out? Arenā€™t those two the only reason to join any org?
