I have 3 years of work experience and make close to 120k a year in the Greater Seattle area with an 8% annual bonus. The stock grants at my current company are not really substantial. I got an offer from Amazon SDE1(L4) on the Amazon Global Expansion team. The details of that are: 1) Base pay: $115,000 2) Sign on bonus: $45000(25k at sign on and 20k over the second year) 3) 40 RSU's So that makes it a total TC of $144250(115000 + 45000/4 + 72000/4) I also have another offer from Nordstrom for Engineer 2 role on the Supply chain and warehouse team. The details are 1) Base pay $125,000 2) 20% annual bonus(50% based on personal performance, 50% based on company performance) So TC of close to 150k I also gave an onsite interview at Apple on the Siri team in Cupertino this week but haven't heard back from them. My top choice is Amazon. So I wanted to ask if there is room for improvement on both the offers and what strategy would you guys suggest to make the most out of my current situation.
Given that op already has 3yoe. If op does well then is it possible to became sde2 in a year or something at Amazon. For many amazon sde2 roles job description says 2 to 3yoe.
Yeah that is another concern of mine. I am at level 3(new grad level is 2) at my current company. So this seems to be a step down in terms of title. Although I do realize FANG companies do tend to give a lower title. Plus I cant say I really aced all the interviews
Comcast to Amazon is a promo, not a down level
Room for Rsu and sign on
If the work is more or less the same, then go for Amazon. For your yoe having amazon on your resume will definitely be a boost for your next job search down the line. That has been my exp at least. Recruiters are more likely to reach out to you if you have a FANG company on your resume. Don’t worry about the diff in tc, you should focus on building your skills, or at least a good cv (while not compromising too much on the work)
Though, for what it’s worth, the Global Expansion team I think is fairly boring. I’m pretty sure they’re job is to replicate the work in NA, around the world.
I see. Is there any wiggle room to negotiate the Amazon offer though? I am not sure how well or badly it compares to other offers for a similar position
