https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/11/15/amazon-massive-layoffs/ After decades of near-constant expansion, Amazon began laying off corporate workers on Tuesday, becoming the latest tech giant to slash its workforce in recent weeks. Amazon is expected to cut about 10,000 workers, about 3 percent of its corporate workforce. The company started communicating the layoffs to employees Tuesday afternoon, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive matters.
Damn it was true after all And wapo is breaking this ?Bezos using one business to fuel another
Amazon folks, any idea about severance?
It's based on tenure that's all I know
Seems somewhat inconsistent but most people seem to be getting 2 months to find job internally or externally with full pay and vesting. Then severance if nothing is found. But the part after grace period seems inconsistent.
Even Amazon is not safe?? πππ
3% is less that pip quota?
Not when entire teams are let go. Thatβs 100%. Comβon itβs not that hard to understand.
I am talking about macro impact.
It started yesterday. More layoffs today and tomorrow
Good. It was high time that Amazon realized how badly they hired a lots of viruses. Amazon, please get rid off another 200k employees.
