Do you truly believe a trillion dollar company is stupid enough to play a short con and then say oops I lied ? Jeez some people….
at the end it is done by some person or a team. Someone in HR might plan and play this trick to retain talent for a few months. even that saves Amazon hundreds of millions of dollars if not billions. And that HR gets a promotion and a 50% hike in return. Doing this is not illegal and no one can sue you. so why not do that? If you are thinking of reputation, whose 'reputation' is that? it is neither that HR's nor CEO's personal reputation? so who cares about it.

To me it seems like its true. Not an Amazon employee, nor an amazon manager. But one of my closest mentors is a manager in Amazon (Canada) and he said in the next few cycles pay will be addressed for current employees to address discrepancy for new hire increases
