Hey there This happened about 6 or 7 times at least. Different recruiters would contact me via personal email or sometimes linked in, for a position. I reply " interested", and then i never hear from them again. Different recruiters all the time. I now stopped responding to any amazon recruiters. Do they mass spam emails for positions? I only had a bad phone screen ~3 years ago with them (didnt do well on the question, thats it).
Unless you said something *really* concerning 3 years ago like “This role doesn’t require working with Puerto Ricans, does it?” I doubt you’re blacklisted and you should follow up.
The only “Strong No Hire” given based only on tech performance that I remember was when the candidate was asked a sorting question, and used the language’s “sorted” library. “That works, but can you walk me through what you think that function call is doing under the hood?” “...Nope.” “That’s okay, could you give me your best guess?” “Nope.”
It wasent that bad. Would a "strong no hire" stick to a profile? Why would they contact me if it did?
They do not check before contacting. They spam first, they will only check later if you reply. Sometimes later in the cycle.
Are you only clicking interested or are you writing a written response as well?
I replied. The problem is that it was sent to my email directly many times, not via Linked in. I reply and then never hear back.
Alright chief this is a peak behind the curtain. Let's say I'm trying to fill 20 roles I need to interview around 50 - 60 people I need to get around 100 people "interested" because around half fall out at assessment and phone screen I need to probably reach out to 300 people via inmail based on a 33% acceptance/response rate I will most likely need to review 1800 resumes for the 300 inmails in my project. My inmail usually links the role and has appropriate next steps. If you dont follow the steps I'm honestly not going to follow up with you because you're just another number at that point. If you accept, respond, and are interested then I'll work with you. If you accept and tell me you are interested in another role or location and want help to get the role I'm not recruiting for I probably will just read the message and move on. Recruiters handle hundreds of messages and emails a week and it may sound cold but I cant dedicate 30 minutes to every candidate because it would eat up my work week. My advice - connect with the recruiters. Send a follow up message and attach your resume. Start networking. Once a recruiter likes you theyll fight for you.
Thanks I got to keep on following up
And this is exactly why you shouldn’t work recruiters that cold contact you. Because they’re looking to hire for their role, not the one you want
I had Apple recruiters doing that to me. Amazon recruiters in worst case just visit LinkedIn and did not msg.
Happened to me too. Follow up
Did you get results with following up?
Yes, they rejected my application 🙅♂️
