Amazon - SDE 1 ( downleveled) Alexa team TC - 215k negotiated after cisco offer Cisco - grade8 TC - 186k including 12% bonus+ 10k signon both in bay area, 4yoe
So Amazon's inital offer was less than 186k?
Was 185k, then negotiated
Wow.. had no idea sde1 offer could be that high. Cisco's not willing to negotiate?
If you go to Amazon forget any raise for at least 3 years. Chances are you might not even get significant raise even after promotion
Which team at Cisco
Cisco hands down. Instead of TC, you should really be counting TC/HAW (hours actually worked) ratio to get the complete picture. And btw, that's a very good offer for g8.
What about the layoffs and greencard processing at Cisco?
@ummagumma keep that attitude until you become unemployable outside. As per your logic getting 100k is awesome by working 20 hrs a week instead of 40. Wait for few years when your friends who worked 40 hrs are rising and shining everywhere and you are getting laid off at Cisco.
Now negotiate the Cisco offer higher
And bring that TC info back to amazon recruiter and negotiate amazon offer higher
Damn how is that SDE1 offer so high 🤔
I got 180k for new grad this year
Thats high and good for you. my friend, new grad, got 80k at cisco a year ago
How long have you held on to the Amazon offer? Have you tried extending the deadline? I got a similar offer but they are really stiff arming me and I haven't heard back from two other on-sites yet. I'm torn between trying to get a deadline extension or just accepting with the possibility of having to reneg (and maybe get blacklisted).
Blacklist is a myth. Who started talking this? I would like to know from other people if there is really such thing as blacklist when you renege later.
Yeah I'm not sure it exists either. There is some anecdotal evidence of it if you search blind. It's mainly people saying that they went through with recruiter contact from LinkedIn a year or so after reneg and recruiter suddenly ghosted them. That being said I've had Amazon recruiters ghost me in the past as well.
Go to Amazon which is a core software/internet company, you will encash that experience much better later than working on a fucking sales company like Cisco where engineering is shit and culture is dominated by incapable middle management
Cisco recruiting is bad too
Just watching out for you - Amazon has a hell of an upside. Cisco is on the downward trajectory.
