Israeli precision-guided munition likely killed group of children playing foosball in Gaza, weapons experts say
I landed an Amazon and Doordash SWE internship for my final internship. Which internship would be better for career growth, learning, WLB, and full-time? #doordash #amazon #internship #intern #faang
Don't think about WLB as intern. Focus on learning experience and ability to secure full time job with experience in your resume
Well I will try my best for the return offer so I’m hoping my full time job will have ok WLB
Lol. DoorDash has equally good tech status and name.
A lot of my coherts who interned there ended up a low lier companies for fte not sure I can say the same for those who did amazon
Just trying to understand. The big take away from any internship or the first 2 years at any company is the skill and knowledge. Once you have that you can pretty much crack any interviews as long as you prepare for the leetcode, system design etc which is out of the work environment. When applying to companies, you need your resume to be picked up either by the recruiter or the hiring manager. At this point you have multiple scenarios. LinkedIn, referral etc. Just comparing a few your friends and arriving at a judgement is unfair
Doordash is good for later in your career when you don’t need a big name to propel yourself.
When there's a choice between Amazon and another tech company, always choose the latter.
Even though I hated Amazon’s culture, in my 6 years at amazon I have learned that it’s the best place to do internship and then land a full time and then leave at 2 years mark. You will get lots of learnings and Amazon in your resume
For sure that is why its a hard decision. I’m definitely looking to learn a lot during my internship. It’s hard to tell how much I will learn at Doordash
Technology wise it’s the same learning. At Amazon you will learn how to implement its LPs in practical scenarios. Documentation learning is another benefit. How to lead a discipline professional life in short.
I would advise you to join Amazon without a doubt. DD's tech stack is shit and overrated. So much messy codebase, 100s of developers working on same repository due to monolith architecture, Crazy deadlines without even considering technical challenges, small teams with less exposure to work with seniors. You can't grow if you don't work with Seniors in same projects. You can learn all of their tech stack in a single Amazon team itself. DD entire/similar tech stack is available in AWS and you can get an opportunity to learn across multiple teams at Amazon. You will get an exposure of high standards development process at Amazon which will make you a better engineer in longer term. I started my career at Amazon as L4 SDE and left as L6 SDE within 5 YOE. I miss Amazon and wish to join back.
Yeah DD is.
Join Amazon. Interns don't get PIPed. You get Faang title, which can provide some level of visibility. I am not saying DoorDash is bad. If you are looking for regular SWE, DoorDash might be a better choice, but internship at Amazon ain't bad.
Well I would want to try for the return offer and potentially go back for full time
Amazon for Faang title
Amazon for fang title.
