Help me evaluate contract offers from Amazon vs Nike. Nike isn’t hiring full time anytime this year but Amazon manager has promised full time role (SDE2) after economy improves and based on my team performance. Tc:154k (Nike) vs 145k(Amazon)
Don’t come here. It’s in mess now
No one can guarantee anything in the future. That TC isn’t for an SDE II. Maybe base pay but not comp. Comp for sde II is 250-315 or so. Source: SDM
Amazon is hiring for contractor workers , I only had 2 rounds (1 coding , 1 system design hld) with no LP questions. It’s SDE2 position though.
Which region are they hiring contractors? Can I remote?
Btw SDE II is the sweet spot. You get ambiguous problems to solve and come up with solutions.
Go to Amazon
1. Never take anyone’s word for future FTE role. So many things outside of managers control & headcount is never guaranteed. 2 Amazon higher offer, but Seattle COL higher than Beaverton/portland. 3. It really depends on your personal situation. Single? With partner? Kids? WLB or gain experience for next role? These things will determine which location is better fit for your life / life you want.
Nike is in crisis. Better to go to Amazon for stability.
Both TCs are low af. I’d just interview more and get a better offer. Unless you are hard-strapped for cash, in which case I’d choose Amazon
