I'm a US citizen and dont have any work rights in Australia. Is it possible to get a job offer from Workday in Australia? Are they able to sponsor? Or do I need to get a visa first and tgen apply? Trying to wrap my head around how the Australian work visa system operates.
First off, we’re currently in a hiring freeze so all bets are off. Secondly, you might have better luck joining Workday and then transferring. One of my teammates is a citizen of an EU country and works out of our Dublin, Ireland office. This person has been trying to get to Oz and work and it’s not going well. WD legal has been hypersensitive about visas in general. Now, all that said, I heard from a VP today that conversations are starting to happen at the executive level about how a partially remote workforce might work. But even then, this VP made it sound like it would be a case-by-case basis. If I were you, I might start in the US and then see about transferring.
In the case of Australia, no. The US has a trade treaty with Oz through which Australians can work in the US on E-3 visas for Australians only. Australia on the other hand does not reciprocate by creating work visas for Americans only.
I absolutely hate the right wing in this country. They are toxic trash.
