Anxiety and Obsession

Does anyone else feel numb to life? Like just empty not necessarily suicidal or anything but just constantly a bit overwhelmed. Lately I've had so many of my own projects wrapping up and I honestly haven't slept in 2 days and ate my first food about an hour ago after my wife realized how focused I've been on working. I can't seem to shut my mind off and I'm going into day 3... Not sure the readability of this comment, but posting about this anonymously seems to be a bit therapeutic... But anxiety is a constant when I work so when I get on a roll I hate stopping. Idk comment back if you relate at all and let me know how you cope with life’s anxiety.

Haven’t experienced that but sounds like you’re due for a vacay

You need regular sleep for your mind to work effectively. Anxiety and depression take hold without regular sleep. Do what you need to do to get to bed at a decent time and get 8 hours a night. Nothing is more important than your mental health. Take care of yourself. Get some medical marijuana if you can :)

Haha def helps

Also, talk therapy helps. I've been managing my anxiety for 20 years. I've learned a few things in that time. #1 is sleep.

Yeah I've been meaning to make time for that again tried it for a month a year ago and it is amazing how quickly a 1 hour session can go by but super helpful. Thanks for the insight.

Not sure how people here could help, wish you the best! I felt depressed and super anxious about life last year due to major life events happened all at once. I could not sleep or eat or do anything for half month. But... Just let it flow. :)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah at a critical point for three projects I'm trying to sell and my wife has a baby on the way lol which adds a bit of pressure to perform but I'm stoked to meet him when he comes!

Are you so passionate about your work that you cannot stop?

I have a start up in its final stage of development before a hard launch and am beginning the sales process for two new television shows I'm producing... Lol those are my main projects, sometimes I have a hard time turning down opportunities when I see real potential. I do delicate alot if the busy work, but managing essentially two production crews a design team and two dev team's in Romania and SF... Yeah there's always something to be excited about. But I think tonight I'm going to force myself to pump the breaks, hence I'm on Blind for the first time in over a year lol surprised I could still log in.

Poor friend! I know this kind of rabbit hole. I don't know if it's the same, but it's gotten a lot lower in frequency with age. In all seriousness, talk to your doc about a short run with Gabapentin. It's an anti-psychotic with very little to no side effects. Really helps with racing thoughts without any kind of mental drag.

Thanks for the recommendation! I started taking prozac for OCD/Anxiety... It helps but not with sleeping

Clover Health sses Jun 7, 2019

Yeah I'm not sure gaba would help with sleep either. Phew, I can't handle Prozac, but I know it really helps a lot of people. Glad to hear you're giving something a try. To compliment it, therapy really helps. At least for me.

I can relate big time. I get hyper focused and can work all night on something but it’s at the expense of my health. I’m really sick right now and it’s probably a result of the poor sleep, not eating, not working out, constantly stressed etc. Take care of yourself, health is number one always

Right!? Plus with modern bio science treating aging as a desease we just need to hold out 20 years or so until our lives get extended to double what they are now... Or so I've been told lol

Sleep well and meditate. Even simplest meditations really help. Install Headspace. Take care of yourself.

Actually great idea I meditated for about 30 minutes today between conference calls such a great way to organize ones thoughts. Planning on surfing in the morning with a buddy who is a priest should be good vibes.
