Even when I’m doing pretty well in my job, I feel anxiety every day and my heart starts beating faster. I have decent resume(previously e5 at facebook and now a senior eng at a preipo) and nest egg(1.5m) but I worry that I would lose job and things I have. This makes me just keep saving everything without enjoying life with my money and time. Do I need medical treatment? Tc 400k
I would suggest to consult a therapist first. They do help a lot in understanding whats going on. I would also suggest doing below. 1. Simple walking outside for atleast 30 mins a day 2. Exercise or go to gym if interested 3. When heart is racing , take deep breaths and say “at present moment everything is just fine “ 4. Gratitude: help someone in need. Just simple help not like donate hundreds of dollars. Volunteer in red cross or similar organizations 5. Do mindful medication ( follow any YouTube video) or just simple deep breath meditation 6. I’d suggest therapy because I strongly feel it would make you happier and second the cognitive behavioral therapy recommendations. My only suggested reframe is that I don’t feel you “need” therapy , would approach it from the angle of how you “want” to feel
You need to make time for yourself and find time for a hobby, even if it is to work out or go on road trips with friends and family.
Therapy helped me. Not instantly but I saw concrete results 2 months after my therapist had to go for maternity leave and I had no option but to make major changes in my life and relationships without her support. I'd recommend it. Your therapist can also work with you and give you other options that might suit you best
