Repost as original post didn’t find a Robinhood employee: StockTwits (founded and chaired by GP of Social Leverage VC firm, early investor in Robinhood) launched their commission free trading app today, which should be in direct competition with robinhood. What does the employees and exec team at Robinhood think about this move by one of your investors? Cool or nah? Legal?
What is the name of the app?
Sounds sleazy
Stocktwits is actually pretty useful - I'm not surprised they launched a trading app.
But is it a dick move to compete against a portfolio company?
Not really - I think it is more common than not.
Fuck Robinhood. Registered in the app 1 year ago and I still haven't gotten my account approved.
Stock twats.
R/wallstreetbets is 100x better than stock twits
Friction
There hasn’t been much discussion about this internally and no mention about the involvement of an early investor. Haven’t early investors already cashed out by the time a company gets to our maturity level? That was my understanding. I don’t know why you think this is a juicy story, which probably explains why no one else from Robinhood responded especially since Blind is pretty popular at work.
➕
Howard lindzon/social leverage was in your seed, series A and B. Not sure if they cashed out. I’d be worried about your strategy team if there’s no discussions about them directly competing with you now
