Want to step up my game, been out of school for a while and have not been using the tools like R, Excel for a while, also want to step up my game in SQL and Tableau, want to start Python. Any learning material recs are welcomed. Please recommend specific classes/ blogs/ study websites that you think are helpful #dataanalytics
If you can get your hands on a copy of the old free Stanford class, especially the SQL portion, it’s gold. I learned py from Udacity. Learn how to use language docs, they’re dry and awful to get used to, and once you can quickly find what you need in that nonsense it’s like leveling up.
Which Udacity program?
What’s the name of the stanford class
I love SQL, feel free to DM me if you want to check your progress
DataCamp is a helpful tool. I think the price of a premium membership is well worth it.
I’m an Applied Scientist at Amazon now. I used DataCamp extensively 3-4 years back. Amazing resource. And you can ramp up really fast as they have more coding and less videos.
Following for Python.
Use Leetcode for SQL practice. Udemy Intermediate SQL course to get you started if you don't have any experience with SQL. Once you're comfortable with SQL, read/watch about normalization of databases. I learnt a lot through YouTube
This is for programming but it's using tools such as Python and R. Good luck 🙂
A lot will depend on how you learn and how self driven you are. If you need a lot of theory, classes from places like Coursera,edX, etc can help. If you have drive but don’t need theory and have some experience in the languages, you can find some good courses on Udemy that can get you up to speed. If you’re a bit of a noob and want some confirmation as you go that you’re on the right track, DataCamp or DataQuest can get you where you want to be. There’s no one size fits all option for everybody.
For Python id start with the Python Basics book from https://realpython.com
Google's data analytics in Coursera. My wife is doing it.
What's her background? Is she planning to leverage it to switch roles?
How far into the course is she?
