Fired without warning, no severance. Top performer.
I have offers from Apple - CPU Physical Design and Nvidia - Performance Verification teams for Internship. Nvidia is paying more but I wanted to know where are more chances for fulltime conversion and which roles are more relevant for job search later. Any Idea what Nvidia performance team does?? Suggest the right career track. #internship #apple #nvidia
Pick NV because of their horizontal exposure
WLB sucks in PD in general
Verification skill sets are more transferable than physical design. Also pd is too low level in my opinion.
Too low level in the sense?
^this. It’s either verif or arch you want to be from demand pov .
Do you know what all tasks does performance verification team does in a nutshell??
Perf verif works in conjunction with arch and design to do exactly what the name suggests.
Whoever promises u a full time offer after the end of internship! You can ask them if they consider people for full time role after internship ends
If you are graduating next then optimize for full-time job offer probability. If you have couple more years, then go with the one seems more cool to you or pays higher.
Nvidia is good at converting interns to FT. I think it’s the main source of new hires.
Nvidia converts but Apple can ditch you
As a converted Apple intern: huh???
Join apple. NV only pays more initially. The raises in apple are substantially more. Plus you can always switch internally.
I agree!
General question, working in design is always better than working in verification right?
Not true . Both have different challenges and are equally important
Ok. Maybe for chip design it’s different. But I know for sure that for SWE, design is better than validation. As a matter of fact, the TCs are better too.
