García Martínez, a product manager, in the book Chaos Monkey made some comments that some felt were misogynistic. He was fired after those comments --written before he joined Apple became public. Apple fired him claiming that diversity and inclusion were its core values, and disrespect towards any specific group had no place at Apple. But what if the genders were reversed? Would Apple have fired if Garcia was a woman and had made hateful comments against men? PS: The exact comments he made are not relevant to the poll (the question is merely about reversing genders) and can bias it, so I'm just providing a link to his words, and pasting it below in the comments. https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/12/22433437/apple-hire-antonio-garcia-martinez-out-petition-investigation Link to book:- https://www.amazon.com/Chaos-Monkeys-Obscene-Fortune-Failure-ebook/dp/B07C7DM72N
This poll is misogynistic and reflects more about your values and biases than Apple's.
It is just a question, and not an opinion to be misogynistic. Why don't you just answer it instead of a meaningless accusation. You sound like you can't answer it honestly, so instead chose to call the question misogynistic!
Women are a protected minority in tech and thus treated very differently in the DEI philosophy. Men are not a minority, much less a protected minority. Didn't you get DEI training OP. Feel like captain obvious here.
That is gender discrimination 101. Apparently you missed the class on gender discrimination, and it is arguably illegal. Besides, if it is okay to discriminate against men, then may be all men should start claiming to be trans woman, huh?
Lol. Is your name James damore?
He said women are soft weak and full of sht, like 6 yrs ago
This poll is useless without the quote you’re referring to and your TC
+1 for "and your TC"
His statements in his autobiography — such as ‘Most women in the Bay Area are soft and weak, cosseted and naive despite their claims of worldliness, and generally full of shit’ This however is not relevant for the poll as the question is about reversing genders for the exact words...
Lol wow. Legit career ender, as if the rise in me too and cancel culture wasnt already evident, this guy had it put in writing.
The quotes in the letter are ... something. He must have been very high or very angry when he wrote it.
I mean... the comments he made in his book were pretty fuckin bad though. The “most women in the Bay Area are soft and weak” comment was the least offensive to me
Yeah. That book is just... man, something failed badly here for him to turn out like that.
Like what? Hit me with the worst lol
Remember companies go with the tide. If tomorrow somehow the world starts thinking ladies may be misusing their power, these companies would turn 180 degrees and start being partial to perceived “weaker” section. They have a company to run - that requires some level of positive public support. Unrelated, but same goes with Media
He didn’t just say something misogynistic in conversation or on social media, he WROTE A BOOK. My favorite quote is probably: “They have their self-regarding entitlement feminism, and ceaselessly vaunt their independence, but the reality is, come the epidemic plague or foreign invasion, they'd become precisely the sort of useless baggage you'd trade for a box of shotgun shells or a jerry can of diesel.”
So essentially OP, it’s never personal. Just smooth politics
Weird then that during the “plague” of 2020 the person responsible for mRNA vaccine tech was a Hungarian American woman. Fuck this guy.
🍎 doesnt care about him. It's too much legal hassle and bad press for them to continue with him. Feel bad for him though. Although I wish they would fire all people who posses guns instead, as guns are more dangerous than some words in a silicon valley autobiography, what say?
Woa there. 2A rights exist.
“I personally don’t like guns, therefore the government should take rights away from others”
