The recruiter said they want me at ICT5 but they didnt want me to face first review cycle at theat level. she said it ll take some time to get used to apple environment and i could level up later. what do u guys think? will they olay politics or level me up as said?
ict4 is terminal and going to ict5 is not that easy. don’t count on a level up especially since first review cycle is in 6 months.
What about in the next one?
And is it true that facing first review cycle at ICT5 is not good?
How much are they offering you now?
100/200/600
How about hikes each year? Is it good?
As a rule, never believe a recruiter when they tell you about possible future promotions. The only guarantee is what’s on the dotted line
The exception case here is if it really is that they want to protect you in the calibration, they should just pay you as much as the next level. I’ve seen people get paid well into the next level at Google but get a lower level than competing offers.
In that case, the money is on the dotted line, so still holds true
This is how hiring managers think after they leveled someone too aggressively and then had to manage them out. Why are you asking us? Just ask the hiring manager what specific projects you’d be able to deliver at ICT5 scope, ask them what junior resources or external teams you’d be able to lean on, and a timeline for that project. Ask them if they’ve ever presented a case or if they failed what the learnings were. If you think it’s unreasonable and this person can’t go to bat for you, tell them you want to be upleveled and you’re ok being managed out if you can’t deliver. Otherwise, decline the offer and move on.
I was just asking about the political environment in Apple.
But thanks for the conversation tips!!
Just curious, what's your yoe?

That’s top of ict4 rsus You won’t get ict5 within first 3 years Ask now or almost never
Did you really get 200 base / 600 stocks / 100 sign on as ICT4?
That’s what OP says. How well does lyft pay?
Much better than Apple.
Recruiters are full of shit. Going from ICT4 to ICT5 through internal promotion usually takes years of crazy hard work and requires very high impact and recognition from directors and VPs. Most people never get there and there's almost no way they'll just give it to you in your first or even second year.
I just want you to know I referenced this comment when they tried to offer me ICT4 and the recruiter tried to tell me it wasn’t true and that’s its easier. So yea, recruiters are full of shit.
