I have a senior product managerial role at startup. FB approached about a bunch of IC PM roles that did seem interesting but the recruiter kept insisting I only qualify for the IC5 level which, from what I see, even at the higher end in London could amount to 100ish gbp salary, 15% bonus, 100k usd stock per annum - so in total 180-190 gbp TC, so a down level for me. I tried telling her that ic6 spectrum might be a better match but it seems like they are instructed to consider people with 10yoe+ for it (I don’t have that). Is there any point in interviewing in the hopes of asking for an up-level? If so, who would be the right person to bring it up with and when? Current TC: a bit less than 400k in dollars or 250k+ in GBP #London #productmanagement
What's your current location?
A question to someone who’s actually been through the fb recruitment process: when to ask for a level up?
After you’ve done your on-site, if you perform strongly
Highly unlikely to level up even after interviews unless you have a few competing offers at the level you want. Level is capped based on your experience.
How are you counting your TC and what’s your product work ex ?
No to out myself, roughly 150-200k gbp base salary and ~50% of that is stock
Yeah man L5 would be higher than that. You cannot value Startup equity = FB equity unless your startup is very close to going public (1-2) years.
