Is it common for people to develop new skills while at Spotify, and transition laterally into non-tech teams? I just got off the phone with a recruiter at Spotify who mentioned I may be overqualified for the role I applied to, and quoted a base salary on par with what I'm making now on the agency side. They said they're still interested in moving me forward in the applicant process. My goal is ultimately to gain marketing/brand mgmt skills outside of my specialty in Paid Social, which seems like there is opportunity to learn in this role. However, my friend who is an account manager at Spotify warned me that it is incredibly hard to get promoted at Spotify (she doesn't know much about the marketing dept), so I'm worried about pursuing this position knowing that a promotion is unlikely in the first 2 years. Even if promotions are uncommon - is Spotify good about increasing pay annually?
Dang. Digitas is paying as much as Spotify ?
so long as you forge the right relationships youâll be in good shape. 3 people on my marketing team came from sales. One person from social moved to marketing. I know of a social manager who became a brand manager. re: pay increases short answer is no.
also, internal policy is you must commit at least 6 months in your current role before you can be considered for an internal transfer. itâs a tricky thing to navigate as working for 6 months then leaving your team can potentially burn bridges. feel free to dm me. happy to provide additional guidance across the interview loop, jumping teams, etc.
