Look at how high their wages are. American car companies won’t be able to compete with Chinese car companies. Chinese companies will eat them for breakfast. Tesla will be the last American car maker standing
TSLA will be the first one out
TSLA doesn’t have unions
Why not 3 days work week and 6 days pay?
What Chinese car company? Honda, Volkswagen, Toyata?
Volvo
If you understand how union negotiations work, you will realize that by the time of settlement, most of the demands are going to be diluted except for a few sticking ones.
I don't understand the problem. You can have a 4 day work week and also spend 40 hours in a week working. Why do you think they want 5 day pay?
It says they only want to work 32 hours a week for 40 hour pay
Isn't that what we were told the future will be? That we won't have to work as hard due to automation. Why begrudge these folks? Because they don't want to be paid like serfs or slaves?
To put it a different way, unions want better working conditions which js always a fair ask, There will and must be a constant tussle between corporate and labour for remuneration and benefits. There have been business that were shut down due to unaffordable labour and Companies that have exploited cheap labour and made huge profits (which the labour class itself suffered) You cannot take one side without seriously disadvantaging the other
Makes sense considering how purchase power fell in the last few decades. We work the same time for roughly the same pay but with inflating economy.
Engineers should encourage and support this. I think engineers will eventually end up get 4 day work weeks once the technicians/hourly workers do
Hey man if they can get it, good for them. Fuckin king move.
These American brand cars are already at the low end of the quality.
