The department said in a statement Thursday that Apple showed bias against US workers as part of recruitment for PERM, the permanent labor certification program. The Cupertino, California-based technology giant didn’t advertise such positions on its website and made it more difficult for workers to apply for the jobs, the DOJ said. https://fortune.com/2023/11/09/apple-settles-discriminated-case-us-foreign-workers/
So Apple didn’t hire enough Indians or they hired all Indians?
all
That’s what I guessed. Indians abused the system and fucked all of us in the Bay Area and high tech. They discriminate in all aspect at the tech through projects, promotions, having cult, play mind games and terrorize minorities (non-Indians) … Karma will come back to you one day for all those injustice and ruining other people life through all these unfairness
Such a shame even in these days people discriminate against groups of people
Unemployed people surely have a lot of time to post on Blind
U will be unemployed too soon in upcoming google layoffs u coaster… keep watching movies on Netflix during office hours
I don't watch Netflix, I watch crunchyroll.
They usually convert WITCH consultant folks full time. So they don’t really have open positions for those.
Honestly this process makes no sense. The way this works is that in order to file a permanent resident application (for an employee). They must prove that they cannot find an american who is qualified for the same job. But at that point, that said employee has already been working at apple for years. (AFAIK, apple does NOT file PERM for new hires) Why would Apple bother finding a new candidate when they already have one (that is guaranteed to perform)? Also, if you think about it, this kind of “check” has already been done already… when that said engineer was hired.
Agreed. “This person was the best candidate when we hired them, that’s why we chose them. Now it’s years later and they have performed well enough that we want to support them in the PERM process. We better determine if we missed out on anyone years ago that is looking for a job now that could replace them - including all their internal knowledge and the business understanding that they could have only gained on the job.“ - <insert any company name here> Note: am an American Citizen
Apple has been pulling shady employment practices since Steve Jobs. There was a class action lawsuit against them and Google about 10 years ago for pay rate collusion
They just outsource salary alignment to a third-party now.
Gimme money
There is nothing here to cry about. The interview process is standard and whoever is the most eligible gets the job. Foreign nationals undergo the perm process to get GC and a part of that process an open position must be advertised which appears wasn’t done accurately. More of a paperwork thing than anything else
That’s totally not true. Claiming interview process is standard is bogus 😂😂. You can easily ask and evaluate the candidate the way you want or even bring it whoever the hiring manager likes for interview … claiming who is the most eligible gets the job is the most ineligible reasoning I have heard. Standard 😂😂😂😂 BS
Apple is known for not having a standardized interview process. The interview design and structure is set by the hiring team.
So how do they find and reimburse the people harmed that could never apply because they didn't want to mail it in? Penalty is crumbs to Apple.
Yes big companies are know to exploit h1b loopholes
This isn't h1b though.
Isn't perm part of h1b?
