My current base is 225k. private company no equity but there is bonus. In negotiation stage, recruiters usually start from 180k. As a well known tactic, you first hear their range. Since the difference is 45k, I compare with my base and disclose the number. Ideally i want an increment. Is this right approach? what I felt is there is 200k phycological limit for base, nobody likes to go above it much.
Look at your total comp rather than just the base. If your current base is 225k i am pretty sure you can get into FAANG or 🦄 companies with same base and higher TC.
I will reject any offer without equity
