Depends on where you live. City is expensive at both places. But mtv and Sunnyvale has offices close by. In NYC the office is in City, so living in suburbs will be a long commute. Also, no shuttles in NYC.

About the same price as Manhattan but instead of living in the world's cultural and economic center you have boring sprawling suburbs full of cranky old xenophobic assholes who feel righteous about being "progressive"

All things being equal, I'd take NYC any day over the burbs
