Is it possible to get paid Bay area salary while paying WA taxes? Say you live and work from Seattle. Would you still pay CA state tax?
Come to fb. SEA and MPK have the same pay
So pay in SEA is essentially 10% higher due to no state income tax?
Yes
Also matters where company thinks you are employed. If you are hired in CA and the company lists you as a CA employee then you need to pay CA even if you live and work in WA.
Don’t. FB is a toxic swamp.
Could you elaborate?
Haven’t worked or applied there, but in SEA it has a bad reputation for poor WLB and toxic culture. Obviously varies by team. Also tone deaf leadership and declining business model doesn’t bode well for FB long term. Avoid.
I love CA pay with the Seattle housing market. Money goes much further and $1M buys you a real home, not a shanty with shared walls in the Bay Area.
Sort of, taxes are paid where you earn it. If your job is in ca you pay ca taxes but if you live in wa and your businesses are there you can do some wa.
I guess take an offer in Bay, take transfer after 6 months to a year. Base gets adjusted at many places but RSUs just follow you
Plenty of companies in the Seattle area paying Bay Area wages and even more paying more than that after considering the income tax difference.
Not legally. If you live and work in Seattle you’re a WA resident and have to pay WA state taxes.
WA has no state income tax
True. WA makes up for no state income tax with usurious property and sales taxes. Liquor taxes are insanely high.
