Hi, I have ~50L in bank account and wanted to invest it somewhere. I do SIP for index, debt, US s&p500 every 15 days from my monthly salary. I already have a flat, sufficient gold and FDs so don't want to add more in that. What other options do I have if I am looking for long term growth? Should I just keep adding more on existing MFs? #personalfinance #investments
How i deal with lumpsum is put them in Liquid/debt first. Then withdraw from there and increase SIP in existing mutual funds. When there’s a market crash, i withdraw more and do lumpsum in Mutual funds and buy good stocks in Dip. When you have a backup, try being aggressive with small/multicap funds as well as midcap Stocks. Last option would be to invest in venture funds, like 5000 startups or in AngelList. You can invest as low as 3L to get started.
But liquid funds give returns as low as 3%. Earlier it used to be 6-7%
Yes, that’s an issue. Considering you’ll withdraw from it via SIP for next 12-18 months, you’re actually losing money to inflation. What i do is park the money in Large Cap companies that are stable and backbone of economy(say Nifty10 in india), usually Giant Banks or Giant IT company, with 15%+ CAGR. (a bit of market research is necessary) Then I sell few units and put it in Mutual funds. This takes time for research and all but it’s better than trusting your money with Financial Advisors. Most of them fail to beat market consistently.
Have you thought of looking into a PMS as you will be meeting the minimum requirement?
Yeah, I checked couple of them but somehow I dont feel very confident about them.
Look into CapitalMind and Marcellus PMS funds. The 1st one is very famous for its Momentum Smallcase and has a premium community that you can maybe join and experience before taking the leap, as for 2nd one, it is Saurabh Mukherjea's who is famous for Coffee Can Investing. But yes, only invest if you feel confident
I am in a similar situation. But I need to invest 10L.
For some portion of that amount you can consider RBI floating rate bonds. Currently offering 7.15% return. Interest is paid semi annually and 7 years lock-in. Equity market is so over valued not sure how long bull rally will sustain.
How to do that?
yeah, this is exactly my concern. Equity market looks very overvalued at the moment. I will look into RBI floating rate bonds, thanks! :)
