Block vs. SoFi
Given the option between the two, comp being equal (base, equity, bonus, benefits), would you choose to work for Block or SoFi based on WLB, job security, culture? TC: 350K
Block has better engineering culture . SoFi has better WLB and probably more upside in the stock. Depends on what you looking for.
The culture here is in the toilet. Our leadership is toxic and the layoffs aren’t even in full swing yet. I would avoid Block if you can.
Why are they always advertising job openings if laying off?
Jack is back. Things will get better. Stock price will recover under Jack’s leadership.
I read Sofi is hiring mostly for contract. For what position you got offer from Sofi? Sr staff?
SoFi is a dumpster fire as far as leadership and direction is concerned. Just had a small layoff as well. Lost some good, some needed to go, some teams shouldn't have lost a headcount. Oh well.
Don’t know anything about Block, but i don’t really know anyone at SoFi who honestly *loves* it. I wouldn’t recommend SoFi to any of my friends, and I myself am only still at the company to finish a few things Ive started and would feel dismayed to bail on. I probably won’t stick around after those things either go south for silly reasons (kinda common) or get themselves stable.
