Considering an offer with Block and interested in what some of the best non-TC perks are: e.g. wellness budget, free subscriptions/benefits for company products, sabbaticals, travel/team building budgets, utility payments, etc.? Tax: YOE: 15 TC: 350k (post stock tank) Non-tech #square #block
Op, whatās the offer TC like?
They send you this info with an offer, did you not read the benefits guide? If you didn't get one, ask for it from your recruiter.
Yes, I did receive a benefits guide. It mostly focused on healthcare, parental support, therapy sessions, and I saw something related to $75/mo for gym reimbursement. But I was interested to know if there was anything beyond that, as outlined in original post. TC is a substantial increase, so Iām very likely to take the offer and was just curious if there were any other off-the-menu perks.
The $75 can be used for gym or other wellness related stuff. I think it accumulates up to $225 if you want to buy something bigger or you can use it to incrementally reimburse something you already bought. There's also a $125/mo wfh stipend that you can use for internet, utilities, that sort of thing. There's also a one time $500 signon to buy stuff for a home office like monitor, chair, etc. Sometimes individual teams will have swag that they put together, or do a remote social event that you can expense some drinks for. Teams also will try to do an in-person gathering every year. Congrats on the offer!
Team travel budget is good. Usually 3-4 trips a year
Sounded like it would be less this year
Not for my team within ecom. 2 team trips and 2 ecom trips. Might vary though not sure, fairly new here.
Perks suck here compared to meta tbh but we do have espp
Remote-first and you can work from anywhere 45 days/yr
You can ask recruiter to send you PDF with list of perks. In short: perks not that good as Meta but still OK. - $75 a month wellness vs 2k a year at Meta. - 5k 401k match - No free food Rest is about the same on average, also they donāt provide a phone to employees.
Thanks for the info - while itās below Metaās current offerings, I wouldnāt be surprised to see Meta further erode its perks
This would also be my first time with flexible (unlimited) PTO - how does Block seem to be about letting employees take PTOā¦is the average somewhere around 4 weeks/yr taken?
I know y'all are all about TC so I'll add my offer to the bottom but how is Block from a CULTURE perspective? Do they watch your computer usage? Are working hours really flexible fully remote (for example: one day I don't work 12-1 but I work until 6 or whatever)? Are you burnt out? TC: $275K
Only been there a month but it's been great so far. - Very much a 9 to 5 culture. Folks work hard during that time, but outside of that no one will contact you. - It'll depend on your manager, but I'm pretty sure you can work flexibily - very motivated workforce, which is great - Little politics. I'm new and no matter who I've reached out to, theyve gotten back to me and helped me out. - It's FinTech so they are careful around regulatory stuff, but they don't monitor computer usage in detail or anything like that.
