I casually interviewed for a Broadcom position and somehow landed an offer. The offer breakdown is: Base: 116k Bonus: 17% (~20k) Stocks: 150 units/4 years (~20k at current price) 15% refreshers Pros: TC Team sounds smart and work seems cool potentially lots of growth for me Cons: No WFH Mask mandate for office (could end sometime next year I guess) 35 min with tolls/45-50 without My team is remote except for my boss. By remote I mean they work from the office from other cities. My boss is in my city. Office in my city is 2 floors in a building which are pretty grim looking. Need help assessing if it’s worth it for me to switch. The TC bump is almost 50%. I feel like I’m stagnating at T-Mobile but the WLB is great and I’ve made good friends here. Im on the cusp of a promotion but I’ve been told that for the entire year. But since we’ve had like 4 VP changes, all promotions have been paused this year. 3YOE Current TC: 110k Current company: T-Mobile Update: Broadcom upped the base to 121k. I’ve accepted the offer. Thanks everyone for the advice! #broadcom #tmobile
What’s 15% refreshers? 15% of base? What role is it?
I think they mean the number of stocks. So its 150 units/4 years i guess it'll be an extra 22.5 units every year?
No, you will get a new grant every year. I am not sure what they mean by 15% but the new grant could easily be similar to your original one if you perform well
Broadcom is fundamentally strong in this market. Go for it.
What role is this?
Backend Software Engineer
OP, you are right on the cons. And also culture is shit. But it is a good offer to level up. Reassess your situation once your initial grant vests.
No brainer. CEO and 2nd guy were granted $1B in stocks just 2 mos ago with targeted stock tranch prices of 825, 925 and 1125 respectively. After VMware goes through, it will go up. Plus i always had issues getting signal on T-mobile.
Where is this information available?
The bonus is 17%? Has it dropped from 20% or raised from 15%?
I was initially told by the recruiter that it was 12%, so 17% is a great bump in that regard. Better than the 10% i get at tmobile. Not sure if its been increased or decreased for L2 tho
Op, can you please help refer any RF wireless role?
I haven’t joined or accepted yet. I found this position through a recruiter. Also, I don’t know what RF is :v
Thanks, can you please help share the recruiter 's contact through a message ?
Definitely take it. I am early career as well. Pay and growth have been great. To be fair, I am on the HW side which does much better than the SW side in general here
Also pay here can easily reach FAANG levels
Take it! It will be worth it!!
OP of you have questions feel free to reach out. I’m in the Dallas office as well (Plano to be precise, on legacy drive).
Yeah that’s where I’ll be going too!
I'm in Austin, just curious how many people are at that location?
Go with Broadcom
