This isn’t a new thing, wind back the clock a few years and 50% of the time at an office job was talking to coworkers, lunch, smoke breaks, etc. The other 50% was split between looking busy and actually working. Also, openly admitting to working in his startup “during his shift.” Big brain move on that one. Probably not going to be an issue but some salty employer might come after you and good luck fighting a fleet of $800/hr lawyers.

This is just another propaganda hit piece against tech workers. I’ve see this article before, so let me say it again: you cannot measure the value of a salary worker in hours worked, but in output. If this young man can finish his work in hour, then good on him. In this economy, I would rather get paid to do one hour of work than suffer as a tradesman or retail/restaurant worker again. TC: 105K
