Spent my first 2.5 years at Big 4, spent the last 3.5 years doing analyst / operations work (product ops, sales ops, data analytics). Got laid off last year, most likely will PIP'd soon. Not worried about immigration stuff (US Citizen). 90% of my work is done in Excel / GSheets. My last job actually had some SQL work but haven't done it in a long time so am rusty. Don't have any certifications but open to getting them. Wanted to go towards data science but seems like a majority of the crowd is ahead of me since I pivoted in and not many DS jobs around right now. Wondering if it is worth learning anything technical at this point? A friend who has only worked at FAANG recommended I move into customer success / account management so it is an option, but have no idea what they do. I don't really care about super high comp (have my future finances relatively sorted) but being within the ~150s would be ideal. TC - 110 + bonus #tech #careerguidance #operations #analytics
What did you do at big4?
I suggest pushing for a Senior analyst role then transitioning. But why are you getting PiP'd? What are you doing wrong?
I have a really bad manager. I've posted on a Blind about it before but there's a lot of mistreatment including yelling and being left off team events, my health took a nose dive. I could be better but not here.
Sounds like you're still relatively young (e. g. mid 20s). Why not take this opportunity to look at AI/ML and set yourself up for this field.
Unfortunately, I'm 29
So what? Plenty of time to sit down, buckle up and grind.
