What's the source of the article?
I'm surprised "shark attack" didn't make an appearance
And? Terrorism and homicide are newsworthy. Grandma dying of heart disease isn't. Why should media coverage reflect actual death rates? I can't think of a logical reason it should.
Fair point. The takeaway from the first two bars is people aren't taking heart disease seriously enough though.
90% of Americans are delusional about reality. They are real btches of media and have almost no understanding of real issues and real world suffering.
I'm not sure that's the conclusion I'd draw. I bet if you look at the questions Americans ask their doctors they line up pretty well with reality and do not indicate any delusion. So then ask what is the function of searching and what is the function of news and see if there's a reason why a rational person might look to them with different questions than they ask their doctors. I bet cancer vs heart disease difference is because most people have a pretty good understanding of heart disease symptoms and treatments whereas cancer symptoms and treatments are complicated. So they need more information about cancer so they search more. Then what is the function of the news? The news is part of the political process and is likely to focus on problems that require a primarily political solution. You talk to your doctor if you want to lower your risk of heart disease or cancer. If you want to lower your risk of murder or terrorism you talk to your politician.
Amazon guy is schooling F5.
Not sure what correlations you are trying to draw. The sample periods are all over the place. How about a new chart with data from the same time intervals?
News reports are whatever people watch/click/read. Lots of old people dying from heart disease is not news. One person winning jackpot is newsworthy. 100M people not winning is not. Imagine 100M articles about everyone who lost...
Guess it just shows fake news is fake
More people need to worry about heart disease. Get regular exercise, eat a balanced diet, and live a low stress life if you want to be here for awhile! People discount the extraordinary odds of even existing. You should take care of yourself mentally and physically.
Addressing the root cause would mean addressing the healthcare and food processing issues in US, non of which politicians want to address.
If it’s 33% terrorism related news coverage for actual news sources like NYT, I’d think it is 70%+ for propaganda places like Fox ‘News’, Breitbart etc.
Anything you disagree with is “propaganda”? Typical
To be fair, some of it is objectively identifiable as propaganda. A Breitbart editor confirmed it to me in private conversation once.
