I accepted the charles schwab offer on May 11, 2023, and in the offer it is clearly mentioned as Telecommute. However, I was informed on June 17, 2023 via text message from the Hiring manager, that the policy has changed last week and that I will be required to be in the office for three to four days per week, starting on July 1, 2023.,I accepted this offer with this compensation because the job is fully remote. I am disappointed that this change was not communicated to me till now in a professional way via HR or hiring manager via call or from email. I came to know about the policy change on Friday, June 17, 2023, when I received the laptop and connected with my hiring manager via text message to get to know how to get the password and discuss my first day. He updated me about the policy change in a text message, stating that "rules are getting finalized as we speak, ****. I don't think it's up to me. It's all the way coming up from the SVP. All consultants, Infosys, Wipro, onshore, offshore—everyone." I also find it unprofessional that I was informed of this change via text message, and that my request to start with two days per week was also denied. That intention clearly states I can’t do anything on my last day of my current employment. It is very unethical in humanity basis to the new joiner is requesting the time to materialize the personal need for one or 2 month even though the issue is not with my side.(offer clearly mentioned as TELECOMMUTE) One thing I would possibly add is that you thought with the company profile, the standards of the process will be very high, but it was a huge let down and I never had an experience like this in the past. Here is the interview process with Charles Schwab for your reference. I went through so far to explain and let me know if there are any mistakes on my side. May 30, 2023: Completed the background check and was given a start date of June 20th. June 5, 2023: Resigned from my current employment. June 17, 2023: Received the laptop and accessories from Charles Schwab. June 17, 2023: Connected with the hiring manager to get the password and discuss my first day. During the conversation, he updated me via text message that the policy has recently changed and that I will need to be in the office 3-4 days per week starting July 1st. I requested to start with 2 days per week so that I can settle my personal commitments, but the hiring manager said no and he stated the policy came from SVP level. Jun 18 and Jun 19 2023 – Sleepless night and discussed with my family and finally I decided not to join the company because of the unprofessional and unethical way of the company in the boarding process. June 20 2023 – I am jobless now. I am disappointed with the way that the interview process and on-boarding process was handled. I was given the impression that the position was fully remote, but then I was informed at the last minute that I would need to be in the office 3-4 days per week. This is not feasible for me due to my personal commitments. I feel like I wasted 5 months of my time going through the interview process only to be told that the position is not what I was expecting. I hope that Charles Schwab will take this feedback into serious consideration and improve their recruitment and boarding process in the future. #Charles Schwab #Schwab

Sorry dude. I am in the same situation, got hired 14mo ago as remote worker, now they want me to go back to the office, 50mile drive... This is to reduce headcount before a coming layoffs
I worked at Schwab and I wouldn’t work there again, I also had a manager that texted me or called me and I thought it was super weird. I wouldn’t bother yourself with them at all, just get a new better job and move on asap. You’ll probably feel like that after the first month anyway. Also, they aren’t going to take any feedback because they are a behemoth and you’re just a pawn, of course they knew this was a shitty thing to do.
