h1b1 in blind always talking about how shit Canada is, shit weather, shit taxes, shit pay and honestly i'll be the first to admit it's true, Canada does suck in that regard, but what Canada doesn't suck in is the fair immigration system where anyone get can a PR and it's not based on ur nationality. Canada doesn't discrimate on race, think about it, do you want to live many years worried that you'll get laid off and deported, treated like an animal by Americans who will give you merely 60 days and get rid of you first chance they get? You children being sent back your house foreclosed on you have to leave you entire life behind Canada look stay a couple here and sure it will be shit for a couple of years but once ur a candian citizen you can apply with TN visa and you can work just like an American for the good salaries and then have a safe place to retire onto Doesn't seem like a bad deal now does it? #amazon #google #meta #facebook
LMAO your TLDR is: come to Canada to end up moving back to US with TN visa.
Canadian PR is not as easy as it used to be so I wouldn’t get my hopes up based on OPs post.
Canada is useless. Just because H1B process is bad, does NOT mean one has to select another crap basket. Canada has very few jobs, 40-50% low salary, almost same as US cost of living. There is a reason why Canada takes so many immigrants, that country is a sinking ship economically and they are frantically trying to save themselves by taking in lots of immigrant fodder to boost foreign investment and workforce. Every consumer good used in Canada is either made in US or China. Their economy is totally dependent. That TN visa is just another H1B with i140 approved. No advantage
This is the honest truth tbh. Have seen atleast 5-6 people complaining the same thing over and over again
I recently did extensive research on this topic (moving to Canada) owing to the recent series of layoffs and came to the conclusion that it doesn’t make sense (for me atleast) to move to Canada and get a PR. Context: have approved I140, PD-2019, country of birth-India, US born child. 1. The pay cut is HUGE: Meta allows you to check the comp they’d offer if you decide to relocate. The move would change my TC from $210k USD to $173k CAD which translates to take-home going down from $164k USD to $117k CAD. That’s close to a 40% cut to move to an area that is almost as expensive as the US. 2. COL: a decent 2 bed apartment in Seattle can range from $2-2.5k USD per month but I didn’t see any decent apartments in this range in Vancouver. They were mostly $2.5k-$3k CAD. So you earn less and spend more on rent ?😅 3. For the PR->Canadian citizen -> TN route would take a minimum of 5 years to accomplish. 5 years of cutting my pay in half to get rid of the H1b queue ??? I might as well work those 5 years at a high pay in the US and move back to India if I loose my job. 4. Approved I140: having this means that I can anyways move back to the US without going through the lottery again. This benefit is exactly what the TN visa offers- so why go through the entire experience of moving to Canada in the first place. 5. 60-day grace period: USCIS recently clarified that you might be eligible for a 1 yr EAD if you’re laid off but have an approved I140. This should give enough additional grace period to find a job that is willing to do your H1-transfer. 6. Strong passport: My wife and I already have multi-year Schengen visas and can travel without the hassles of renewals. Don’t really have an incentive to get a Canadian passport as our Indian one gets us to most countries we want to visit anyways.
Been in Canada 2.5 years now. Love it here. PR sponsored through Google. No worries if I get laid off.
+200k TC for senior position — is this even achievable in Canada?
You have a PR so you’ll be okay if you get laid off, think about the people that come here on closed work permits. If they get laid off getting another job is not as easy with a closed WP. The CRS cut off is pretty high now for the yearly targets, so I would say Canada is not as safe as it was couple of years ago.
Please stop posting these invitations to Canada. Doesn’t help anyone.

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
Canada is just like India. Look at the demographics which is changed in last 20 years. No shitting on Canada though
How’s it like India? Just having a lot of Indian people doesn’t make the country India
Indians just account for just about 6% of total population as per statista
