Not google anymore. Any takers? No quick to fire either. Tc:330k
Doubt there are any left
How are Cap One performance reviews?
Awful, specially now
No escaping perf/GRAD/stack ranking anywhere in this world. Even if you run your own business, your customers will be stack ranking you and firing you. Maybe win the lottery?
I more so mean less aggressive. Getting stack ranked against pretty much 90% of the most talented people you know including people you looked up to before even joining tech is pretty hellish tbh.
That's not true. There are places you can get away from stack ranking. Look at Zuck. Wasted billions on Meta's failed metaverse play and nearly destroyed the stock with practically no consequences.
Microsoft is the only one I know of. Years of research have proven stack ranking leads to terrible outcomes, but our corporate overlords do it to keep us in our place.
Litterally about to go apply
Microsoft is worst in this. They still do 10% stack rank, layoffs, forced ‘unlimited pto’, worst pay like low 100s after cliff and above 200 before, terrible garbage management, fake projects, bullying list goes on
Sometimes it is a team/org specific. If you join a company without it they might introduce it later.
Yeah google was not bad when I joined but the performance stuff is insane now
Not Atlassian
OP do you think company will survive if its employees are coasting by?
I think close to 10% marked as low perfomers every year in an already super competitive company is a bit much for me.
I think the main pain point is a lot teams can’t find scope at G but for an engineers on the team to not get bad rating you have to find some scope. This becomes the hunger game and you are never sure if you are the scape goat. Even if you were not coasting, the things you do might be invaluable to the higher ups and next thing you know you’re on the list.
mcdonald’s
lol the employees prob get stack ranked there too
i think it depends on the location, in some locations it’s so hard to hire that as long as you show up to work, you will stay employed
