Got a Confluent offer a few days ago, with base 170k and RSU 240k over 4 years, they mentioned the level is SWE 2 which maps to Facebook E4. Thoughts? I think the RSU part is too low even during IPO the RSU 3x it is still not significantly more than current TC. Currently at Facebook with TC 350k / 3 yoe thanks for stock appreciation.
How many shares you got? It’s hard to tell by the value
BTW, SWE 2 is Facebook E4
It is untold. It is said that price per share is based on first board meeting after joining and then it will be converted to shares, from what I guess it would be based on valuation between 4.5B to 10B.
You were presumably at Google very recently, now you're at Facebook, and potentially moving to confluent? Why you hopping so much?
Just interviewing to see what’s on the market, not plan to leave
There's only a handful of companies that can beat Facebook with comp. Can count them on one hand. Confluent ain't one
Congrats, what was the interview like? LC heavy?
I’d say it is design heavy and have 1 round for multi threading specifically
Can you please describe this round in bit details? Not the exact questions but format of the questions
Can you please elaborate on the multi-threading interview round? Was it more like a conversation or more like write end to end functional multi-threaded code for a given problem or somewhere in between?
It is writing e2e functional code
Congrats OP on the offer. It’s a little less and would be very informative for all of us here if you can post RSU price/valuation it is tied to. Did you negotiate for an L5 level role? Surprised to see a design heavy interview process for an L4 level role. What kind of questions were asked in your design rounds? Any LC type interviews? Until recently they were giving out options. Did the recruiter mention how far they are from an IPO?
Tried L5 level but didn’t succeed. Design rounds are very common design questions, similar to design Twitter.
Are you sure it was RSUs instead of an estimated value of ISOs? If RSUs, any idea when they switched?
I am sure. Recruiter didn’t mention the reason of the change. Also recruiter sells dream by comparing them with Elastic, saying stock would perform similar to Elastic.
Yes, recruiter told me today that they started offering RSUs starting this week.
Hey OP, are you front end eng or backend eng?
backend eng
Lol zay
Ask for a number on the RSUs. I know another offer recently which had a number on RSUs. DM me if you want more insight.
Thanks for letting me know! DMed
Can you guys share here any info that is ok to share? Will be super helpful for rest of us.
